Complying With Compensation Laws
In order to comply with employment laws regarding pay, you should familiarize yourself with the following requirements:
- Records you must keep. If you have employees who are covered by the federal employment laws you must maintain and preserve records. If your employees are exempt from the federal laws, you have to maintain records to prove that fact.
- Retaining payroll records. Complying with the federal government’s requirements as to how and where you keep your payroll records.
- Providing Employees Payroll Information. The payroll information that many states require you to provide with wage statements to your employees.
